media training

Standing in front of a camera may be daunting for many, but it can provide an unmatched opportunity to promote an event, product or message. As a journalist with 14 years’ experience in national TV news, Emma Birchley knows exactly how to train interviewees to speak with confidence and clarity. It means not being afraid to answer the tough questions and taking control of the interview. Courses are led alongside a national news cameraman with the opportunity to build up plenty of practical experience while also focusing on honing your key messages.

video production

There may be plenty of people out there offering to put together a video for you, but at Emma Birchley Media, we have the experience to not only create professional, engaging films but to use years of journalistic knowledge to tell a story with words and pictures. crisis preparation

No one wants to be faced with a crisis, but the reality is, stuff happens. Being prepared means dealing with unfolding events with confidence. In an age of social media, it’s vital to respond quickly. A reporter without facts from the source, may be left relying upon information emerging online. During the training, Emma will work through a scenario with facts emerging as the day progresses. The priority is plenty of practical experience. Ultimately the way a crisis is dealt with can mean the difference between a reputation being destroyed or, if responded to properly, even enhanced.

event hosting

Taking centre stage isn’t everyone’s cup of tea… if that sounds like you, then don’t worry. We can train you to lead an event with confidence and if it still seems too daunting, Emma Birchley can take the reins instead… an experienced event host, with the relaxed style and warmth to ensure your occasion is a success. Our professional team is also on hand to film your event with the option of a multi-camera shoot. It offers you the chance watch it all back or to display the proceedings in real time on a big screen.

a bit about emma

There’s a good reason Emma knows how to train people to talk to the media and understands exactly what makes a great video…

Over 14 years as a national television news correspondent, Emma has covered every type of story from fatal air crashes and the Ipswich murders to riots and a Royal wedding, most of it for Sky News. The nature of breaking news means a day that starts interviewing the Prime Minister could end with a stranded whale on a Norfolk beach. The result is Emma has learnt to work fast and at the highest level… never missing a deadline and knowing exactly what makes a great interview and how to tell a story.

Her national career has included stints at ITN's Five News and GMTV and before that, Anglia News as well as the Eastern Daily Press and the Evening News in Norwich. Her first reporter role was at the Great Yarmouth Mercury in 1996, having started out as a runner. Interview highlights have included three Prime Ministers, Robin Williams live on the red carpet, Woody Allen, Leonardo DiCaprio, Beyonce, Scarlett Johansson and even Nelson Mandela.
